Single Taper Collets
  • Ideal for chucking on O.D. or I.D. of part
  • Allows for chucking on narrower chucking lands
  • Does not accommodate tapered chucking surfaces
  • Split from one end or split from both ends
  • Part does not have to be inside entire chucking land
  • Can be threaded on one end to attach to piston or draw bar
Double Taper Collets
  • Ideal for chucking O.D. or I.D. of part in two places
  • Allows for chucking on tapered parts or where the bore is not perfectly straight
  • Split from each end allowing for opposite sides to be independent of each other
  • Extra rigidity by chucking on two locations of a part
Collet Features

This chuck was designed to balance (3) different sizes of brake drums. This is an 18 inch chuck that had to be able to withstand a .25 inch deep milling cut for balance correction. By using quick change jaw inserts on the collet, part change over was done by replacing the jaw inserts, not the entire collet.

By using our latest CAD and CAE software we were able to determine if the chuck could handle that depth of cut. This chuck had a built in air cylinder with springs to clamp the part. The chuck repeated within .0005.

This chuck was designed for ease of part change over. There are (2) different parts being held and our customer needed a quick way for part change over. There are (6) part stop posts that are stationary.

The left picture shows the chuck while it had the long double taper collet configuration. Change over was as easy as replacing the gold body with the one on the right in order to hold the second part. The chuck had a built in air cylinder with springs to clamp the part. The chuck repeated within .0002.

This chuck was designed to hold an OP 20 part. The body was re-designed along with a special part stop to ensure proper locating every time. The part seen on the right was a production run where tolerances were .0002.

There were (2) different sized bores needing to be clamped on, where we made part change over as easy as changing out the collet.

This chuck was designed with (2) independent collets. There is a smaller collet on the inside that locates and clamps a small internal bore on the piece first before the large collet clamps the piece for turning.

This chuck is 18 inches in diameter as well as having concentricity of .0005".

This chuck was used to straighten drive shafts prior to balancing. The chuck held on the O.D. of the slip-yoke with the collet having manual load. The collet was made where the part stop was inside the chuck. When the slip-yoke was pushed into the chuck, it pushed the collet down the taper, chucking the part.
